Congratulations!!! It took you 7 years, it's a lot of work.
Well, what can I say JJ JJ JJ JJ (I do not know why JME10135 likes to spam JJ so much)
I'm more impressed you have a Windows 7 computer after all this time
I cannot truly relate to what said task requires to complete, you're right, but that's a massive commitment time-wise, and the name itself does imply it really is a grueling one... Congratulations!!!
@Wegra respect on that too! The best one in the series still, I miss it...
Windows XP was rather solid too imo.
Bro was never heard from again
Indeed, I remember that one fondly too, though I remember liking Windows 7 even more when it came out, it felt like they'd actually really perfected the foundations of XP, it was similar but so new... since then I haven't actually felt a single update was better than the previous...
I like Windows 11 more than Windows 10, but still not as much as 7.
I have Windows 11 on my new PC that I bought half a year ago and I got confused when I noticed that the start menu was gone. So far I have been able to do everything I need so I cannot complain.
At the moment I use my old PC with Windows 7 because I wanted to play games that I have saves from on this computer.
Fortunately you can still align it to the left if you want to... I've started using this though, to still get it looking like it did back with 7: https://www.stardock.com/products/start11/
Used a registry hack to get rid of the new right-click menu too, otherwise it's not so bad, I appreciate that the rounded design's coming back again...
Gotcha. I have Windows 7 on a couple old computers too, not for games currently, but someday maybe. There's one voice recorder driver I have that doesn't work beyond 7, so occasionally I use one of 'em to transfer files from the voice record, that's all atm.
@JME10135 Congratulations on reaching 700,000 points!!!
Thanks. I reached 700 000 while going through old games that did not work before. I noticed many of them work now.
@Cyberdevil @JME10135 I have Windows 10 Pro, one of the best Windows operating systems I've ever had.
@Andrey20 @JME10135 That's cool. Functionally there's probably no real downside to Win 10, design-wise... it seems either you like the minimalistic square kind of style, or you much prefer the rounder; a bit more detailed one, for which I still think Windows 7 was the pinnacle, and I really prefer that. :)
Have gotten used to Window 11 now though, it's great too. Some things do improve with each one!
Oh hey Congrats on 700,000k too @JME10135!
@Cyberdevil @JME10135 As such, there are no disadvantages, the only thing that upsets me is that Windows 10 Pro does not have a startup sound and a shutdown sound, although, for example, Windows 7, Windows 98, Windows XP have an on and off sound.
@Andrey20 Ah I don't think I've thought about the startup sounds in a long time, I often don't want the computer to sound much when I boot up (people may be sleeping) so it's always silent... that's interesting. Maybe they considered people don't actually want it to sound, and thus removed it...
I really liked the startup sound with old Apple computers in particular, haven't thought about it on newer ones!
Functionally I agree anyway, I think design is more the preference that has some people liking the old; some the new better. Win 10 is definitely fast! Win 8 was really slow; problematic in comparison. They've improved a lot since. Just like they did with Windows 7 after Vista.
@Cyberdevil I remember I had Windows 7 on my old PC, which is no longer there, I used Windows 7 for a long time, but then it became very laggy that it was no longer possible to use it, so I abandoned it.
@Andrey20 same here... i loved windows 7, but i had to switch to windows 10 :(
@Placeholder456 Windows 7 is a legend, but I like Windows 10 too.
@Andrey20 yeah, i installed some programms so my windows 10 now looks almost like 7 :)
